

Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS), popularly known as JEEViKA, is an autonomous body under the Department of Rural Development, Government of Bihar. Established in 2007, it serves as the State Rural Livelihoods Mission under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) framework. BRLPS aims to alleviate poverty and empower rural communities by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities. The program focuses on social and economic empowerment of the rural poor, especially women, through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Organizations (VOs), and Cluster-Level Federations (CLFs). Operating across all 534 blocks in Bihar, JEEViKA has mobilized over 1.3 crore rural families into more than 10 lakh SHGs. The initiative also implements various programs like the Bihar Kosi Flood Recovery Project and collaborates with organizations to enhance legal awareness and support among rural women.
